We consider communication to be a cornerstone of our strategy going forward. VECO is so entwined with the very fabric of life within our franchise area that constantly "touching base" is a key driver towards enhancing this symbolic relationship. In the past, advertising in various media was the way to communicate. Now it involves sms and a website that is constantly evolving with the passage of time.
              
This begs the question: why would an electric utility want so much to communicate with me, the customer?
              
Our lifestyles are becoming increasingly dependent on energy, which in turn is said to be more and more scarce, especially that which is non-renewable. In order for the needs of energy consumers and the pressure on our resources and environment to converge, communication is a must. In the future, we envision a scenario where the consumer, real time, can become aware of his power consumption, carbon footprint and at the same time be told the price of that power at that specific point in time, thereby influencing consumption patterns through price signals.
              
Today getting information on-line on application requirements, payment alternatives, outage information and the like either via sms or a website is a step in the right direction.
              
At VECO we are committed to taking service to you, the customer, to the next level always. This commitment manifests itself in a variety of ways. From an engineering standpoint this means constantly upgrading our distribution network to provide consistent power and to increase margin of safety. From a customer service perspective this implies better attention at our service and call center as well as reduced waiting and process times for all transactions.
              
Efficient energy use is another obsession. Hence our tagline:
   save energy save money save the environment           
              
A megawatt gained by using energy efficiently is a megawatt of additional generation capacity not installed (and 2 million dollars saved!).
              
We are proud of our involvement in January 2009 in getting businesses within our franchise area to agree to shed load in order to mitigate the effects of the power shortage affecting our Cebu-Negros-Panay grid.
